The Cabinet Office and Serco are delighted to announce that we have signed an extension of the contract to continue to develop and provide resilience learning together until 2028.
Through the Emergency Planning College (EPC), Serco has played an important role in developing the knowledge and skills required to plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies and significantly disruptive events, since the introduction of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
Matthew Clarke, Director of the Cabinet Office Resilience Directorate, said: “We look forward to building on the work to date with the EPC to support the resilience professions, with the development of a wide range of courses, new guidance and support for exercising. There will be a real focus on what it takes to move from identifying lessons to evidencing that learning has been understood and acknowledged and improvements have been made in practice. The Cabinet Office’s continued strategic partnership with Serco provides a strong platform to further embed our offer on training and exercising and broader support for a ‘whole of society’ approach to resilience through the new UK Resilience Academy.”
Ryan Flaherty, Serco Training and Resilience Director, said: “We are delighted that the Cabinet Office - Serco partnership will continue into this next exciting phase as the EPC evolves into the United Kingdom Resilience Academy (UKRA) in Spring 2025. This new chapter builds on the experience and capability gained during fifteen years of the EPC, as a strong platform on which to develop the UKRA. While the physical home of the UKRA will remain at the Hawkhills residential campus near York, we will continue to develop and enhance our off-site and online offer, to continually improve accessibility and reach.”
The UK Resilience Academy will have its own dedicated website when it officially launches. In the meantime for more information please visit the UK Resilience Academy on the Gov.uk website here.
