Overview
This course is for professionals with responsibility for communications in emergency planning, response or recovery. You’ll work with peers to explore how to:

- Identify and engage effectively with partners, stakeholders and communities
- Issue timely, inclusive messages during emergencies and recovery
- Manage information and communicate in complex, uncertain situations
- Evaluate communication activities and improve future performance

Aim
To strengthen the confidence and capability of professionals working in resilience, emergencies and communications to deliver effective messaging before, during and after incidents — supporting preparedness, public trust, multi-agency coordination, and continuous learning in crisis communication practice.Learning Outcomes
- Critically evaluate the role of communications in enhancing organisational and multi-agency preparedness, response and recovery capabilities.
- Analyse communications arrangements that support effective emergency response and recovery, including methods for testing and maintenance.
- Define strategies for engaging partners, communities and stakeholders to co-produce inclusive and resilient communication approaches.
- Formulate and assess approaches for issuing timely, targeted warnings and managing information during emergencies and crises.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of communication interventions, and apply findings to adapt strategies and plans in response to evolving risks, public needs and operational conditions.
