Aim
To provide practitioners working in a Civil Protection environment with a developed understanding and unique working insight into the core skills, structures and processes of multi-agency Integrated Emergency Management within the UK.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the background, legislation, doctrine and standards within the UK Civil Protection environment
- Understand the Integrated Emergency Management (IEM) framework
- Identify the UK’s approach to risk management – national to local
- Describe the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP) joint doctrine, including key tools and templates
- Examine key approaches to emergency and Business Continuity planning
- Examine the response and recovery phases of emergency management
- Understand the UK’s approach to training and exercising in developing capability
- Recognise the importance of learning within the IEM framework to improve capability
This course is aimed primarily at those starting out as civil protection professionals. It is also of value to those simply wanting to develop a formal understanding of UK emergency planning and management operations.
