Cocoanut Grove Fire
Fire started at the overcrowded Cocoanut Grove nightclub, quickly burning through the building. Many people tried to escape through a single revolving door, which became jammed, trapping them inside. It resulted in almost 500 deaths, making it the deadliest club fire in history. The tragic events later lead to improved fire regulations such as mandatory outward opening doors next to a revolving door.
